Against the Ox-Muzzlers

A couple series of articles have gone largely unnoticed recently, and this is too bad. David Murray at Head Heart Hand and Douglas Wilson at Blog and Mablog have both been addressing the issue of ministerial compensation. Murray comes at it largely by the familiar way of warning against greed in the ministry, and Wilson comes down much harder on the greedy congregations that attempt to prevent the love of money in their pastor by not giving him very much. While I think Wilson’s words are far more needful at this time, Murray does a solid job presenting another biblical perspective on preachers and money.

Here are the links:

Murray: Spiritual Weedkiller, Ministers and Money, and Money Matters.

Wilson: A Brief Theology of Designated Gifts, Double Honor, Shepherds Who Feed Only Themselves, Shortchanging for JesusActually Count the Shekels, and The Mutual Funds of Missions Funding.
